Triceracopter and Self Portrait at UC

We went to the University of Cincinnati Walter C Langsam library to see the Triceracopter and Self Portrait. This was so cool. You know I am a fan of helicopters and the Triceracopter is made from one.
It is a half helicopter and half triceratops and it's 30 feet big. It was created in 1977. Triceracopter was the last exhibited at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center in 1978. It was created by artist Patricia Renick who also created Self Portrait: She Became What She beheld. It is a sculpture of the artist sitting on a chair, dressed in work clothes, and holding a small helicopter. Instead of it having her head, she portrayed herself with the head of her progeny.
I loved these, they were so neat to see. I am always amazed at how much talent people have to be able to make something like this. I love art and anything that is different.

The sculptures are located on the 4th floor of the Langsam library.

  1. WOW! That thing looks way too modern! Hard to believe it was made in the mid 70s!
