Halloween At Sharon Woods

I know this post is a little late but to be honest I forgot to blog about it. I know Halloween is over but it will not be long till it is here again so I thought I would tell you about Sharon Woods so you can make plans to go this year.
They go all out for Halloween at Sharon Woods. They have trick or treating for the kids, they have people walking around in costumes ( I got to meet my favorite The Headless Horseman )
they also have some of the historic houses open and they have different things going on in them like the mad science and face painting. They have a little concession stand set up where you can purchase hot dogs, soft drinks, hot chocolate and other things. They have a bonfire and you can sit around it. They also had wagon rides and a haunted trail that was a blast.
We were there because we were doing the ghost investigation after the Halloween part was over so we walked around and checked out some of the things they had going on while we waited.
If you have kids they will love this and this is a safe place for them to have a good time and trick or treat. We had fun and we are adults..but if you know me then you know I can have fun anywhere...lol..
There is an admission to enter the Haunted Village, it was $8.00 per person when we went. They are open Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm to 10pm.
I will list a link to their website so you can keep an eye on it for this year event.
It is located at 11450 Lebanon Road. Sharonville, Ohio.

Foy's Halloween

We paid a visit to Foy's Halloween and let me just say being the Halloween lover I am this was heaven for me.
This whole block is nothing but Halloween. They have a costume shop that sells adult costumes, one that sells kids costumes, a Halloween shop and a haunted house. This place is AMAZING!!!!!
We went in October and that is when they have their block party. This was a festival like thing going on and all of the houses on the street were decorated for Halloween and I am not talking little pumpkins, I am talking whole yard covered with massive displays.
They also have a restaurant called Rock and Roll Grill. We had lunch there and we were not alone Elvis himself was standing behind our booth. They also have a five and dime store there that took me back to my childhood. This place has everything you can think of.
If you go to visit make sure you do not take pictures in the Halloween building they will say something to you. I got permission to take a couple of photos. In the five and dime store you can take photos and on the street you can take all the pictures you want of the outside of the buildings.
This is about the coolest town I have ever been to. If you are a Halloween lover like I am then this is place for you.
They are located at 18 E. Main Street. Fairborn, Ohio.
Anytime is a good time to visit but October is the best.

Loved this house

Peter's Cartridge Company

I have heard a lot about Peter's Cartridge Company being haunted so I decided to take a drive and check the building out. This building was built in the 1860's as a munitions factory that helped supply the Union Army during the Civil War. When it went out of business it was bought by Remington to make ammunition. This factory has seen its share of tragedy. Many workers died in a explosion at the site. In August of 1940, three men were killed in another explosion at the plant. Today the building houses  several small business.
This building is falling in and is in really bad shape which is very sad. I hate to see a building that looks like this one just falling apart.
I can see why ghost would be seen and heard here. This building sits by itself and is a very creepy looking building. There is a bike trail that runs between the factory and the Little Miami River.
The ghost that haunt this building are of those that have died in the accidents that took place here. People have heard footsteps on the upper floor of the building when there is no one there. People have been outside the building and have seen figures standing in the upstairs windows that will suddenly disappear. There has also been reports of screams coming from the building. While we were there, we walked all around the building and let me just say this is one hell of a creepy building. It did not help that there was big black crows sitting on top of the building like they were standing guard. As we were walking around the building you get the feeling that someone is watching you. I could swear that we saw something looking out the window at us. You also get a sad feeling when you are there, like you can feel the despair of the people who have died there.
If you go and visit this building DO NOT TRY TO ENTER IT. It is guarded and monitored by the police and owners. There is signs posted all over. You can try and talk to the owners to get permission to enter the building.
If you want to see the building just stay on the bike trail that runs besides it, you will be able to see the building and maybe see someone looking at you from one of the windows. Trust me, you will still get a creepy feeling just being outside of this building.
It is located at 1915 Grandin Road. Kings Mills, Ohio. If you want to see more photos please check out my Facebook group page at Lyinn and Doug's Haunted Adventures.

Habits Cafe

We had lunch at Habits Cafe and let me just start this post by saying if you want great food, great service and friendly people then this is a place you should go to.
While we where having lunch, I was finally able to meet the manger of Habits Mr. Brian Dobbins. If you have not heard of him then you really should look him up. He is an amazing author. I love his books and I was lucky enough to get one of my books signed by him while I was at Habits. He is also one of the nicest people I have met.
If you are in to haunted places then you should check out Habits. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you this place is haunted.
In the 40's there was a police officer that was shot in the basement of Habits. People will sometimes hear footsteps in the basement when no one is down there. Some people have even seen full body apparitions.
Brian also told Doug and myself something that happened to him while he was on a break and having some lunch at the bar.
I love Habits. The food we had was amazing and I loved hearing all about the haunted things that have taken place in this building.
I would like to thank Brian for taken the time to talk with us, sign my book and pose for pictures.
I can not say enough good things about him, Habits, the food, and all the people we came in contact with while we were there.
Habits is located at 3036 Madison Road. Cincinnati. They are in the heart of Oakley Square. Go and have some great food and ask about their ghost, they wont mind sharing some stories with you.
I mean come on great food, a haunted building and ghost stories..I was one very happy woman.

Hillforest Mansion

We took a trip to Aurora, Indiana to visit the Hilforest Mansion. This is a beautiful mansion that is so full of history and ghost. Oh yes I said ghost as this mansion is not only beautiful but it is very haunted.
If you don't know anything about the mansion, I will give you a little run down of the history.
This mansion sits up on a hill and overlooks the Ohio river. From 1855 to 1891 this was the home of Thomas Gaff and his family. Mr. Gaff was a industrialist and a financier. The main parts of his business was shipping and riverboats. If you look at the front of the house it resembles a riverboat.
There is so much history with the Gaff and his family. I will list the web page so you can read more about him and what a smart business man he was.
As we were taken our tour, we had a very nice lady who told us so much about the history of the house and the family. I asked her about the house being haunted and she said yes it was, they just don't bring it up unless someone ask about it.
She said that one of the other ladies was giving a tour and felt like someone ran passed her. She continued to give her tour and one of the ladies that was in the tour asked her if she didn't feel that person pass by her.
When we went upstairs to see the bedrooms she said that one of the ladies who works there was in the Gaff master bedroom and she was cleaning it up and she fixed the bed and when she came back into the room the bed looked like someone had laid in it, she said you could see the outline of a body. I know in that room you got a feeling like someone was watching you to make sure you were not messing with anything.
Our tour guide also showed us a picture that was taken when they had a construction crew in the house redoing the stairs. In the photo there was a lot of orbs. It was like someone was watching them to make sure they didn't do anything they didn't like.
I can see why this house would be haunted. When you have something like this house and you lived there for so long it would be hard to let it go even in death.
If you visit the house for a tour just know that you can not take pictures in the house.
Our guide did give us the name and number of a lady who runs the house and we are going to be able to do a ghost investigation  so then we will be able to take photos and videos.
Even though you can not take pics, I would still visit and learn the history and see this beautiful mansion. And if you are into ghost hunting you can still take your EMF meter and a voice recorder  and see if you get any hits in any of the rooms.
This is the web page for the mansion http://www.hillforest.org
