Ulysses S Grant Schoolhouse

We took a trip to Georgetown, Ohio to visit Ulysses S Grant schoolhouse. Ulysses Grant was the 18th President of the United States. He was born April 27, 1822 in Point Pleasant, Ohio. His full name is Hiram Ulysses Grant. Most people do not know that you can tour his old one room schoolhouse. It was so neat to see the inside of this school and learn some of the history about the way school was back then. When you visit you can see the original desk that Ulysses use to sat at. The tour guide that we had was very knowable and was very sweet. She told us that from this little one room school it produced four admirals and two generals, in addition to Ulysses who was both a general and a president. If you have kids this is a neat place to take them, they will get to see how school was taught back in the day. Its also great for the history lover in your house.
You can also visit Ulysses boyhood house in the same tour. It is just a short dive down the street.
It is $3.00 to tour the school and that includes the house also.
The school is located at 508 South Water Street. Georgetown, Ohio.
Their website is www.ohiohistory.org/granthome
