Rubber Duck Regatta and Quacky

If you have been down to Newport on the Levee lately you have most likely seen Quacky. Quacky is a 66 feet tall 1,100 pound rubber duck. That is one big duck and I might add that he is a handsome guy also lol. Quacky is there for the Rubber Duck Regatta. The Rubber Duck Regatta is a awesome thing. If you are not sure what it is, its a event that the Freestore Foodbank does. Every day over 100,000 kids do not know where their next meal will come from. This is where the Freestore Foodbank and the Rubber Duck Regatta comes in. You can buy a rubber duck at Kroger's, KEMBA Credit Union, and online at www.rubberduckregatta.org. You can also call (513) 929-DUCK ( 3825).
The cost for the duck's are $5.00 for 1 duck, $25.00 for 5 ducks plus one free, $50.00 for 10 ducks plus two free, $100.00 for 20 ducks plus four free.
On September 1st during the P&G Riverfest and prior to the WEBN Fireworks they will release  as many as 200,000 ducks into the Ohio River. If your duck is the 1st to cross the line you will win a brand new 2013 Honda Civic Sedan LX and possibly $1 million dollars if their duck is a KEMBA million dollar duck.
The second place winner will receive $100.00 from Kroger's every week for a year, for a total of $5,200.
And 5 other winners will receive $500 cash from KEMBA Credit Union.
But the people who really win from this are the kids and families. Last year Rubber Duck Regatta brought in more then $800,000, that equals to 2.5 million meals for the Greater Cincinnati Freestore. Since the Rubber Duck Regatta started in 1995 it has raised nearly $7 million dollars to help end hunger. I hope this year they can raise a lot more money. If we all join together and buy a duck maybe we can wipe out hunger. No child should ever have to face being hungry and not knowing from their next meal will come from.
I want to give a big THANK YOU to the Freestore Foodbank for helping people when they need it most.
If you are on the Levee be sure to look for Quacky, I am sure you will not miss him and make sure you buy your duck.
