We went and saw the 16th annual Canstruction Cincinnati. This is so cool and a really great thing they do. All of the art is made from full can goods and when the exhibit is over they donate all the can goods to the Freestore Foodbank. They have these every year but this was my first time seeing them. I know I will be going back next year to see what they have came up with. These are not little exhibits by any means, this are full size. There was a elephant that was as tall as me and I am not a short girl. I loved seeing how people can take something as simple as a can of food and turn it into a work of art. And also how that work of art helps people who are in need.
Canstruction is a not for profit foundation of the Society for Design Administration whose mission is "One Man Can make a difference against hunger". I think that is a wonderful mission, if you think about it all it takes is one can of food to really make a difference for someone.
If they have this next year check it out you will be amazed at how a can of food can turn into art also if you go to see them take some can goods with you for a donation. They had barrels set up at the places where the art was collecting can goods.
The website for them is www.cincinnaticanstruction.org
