World Peace Bell
The World Peace Bell is 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide and weighs 66,000 lbs. It is the world's largest free swinging bell and first swung to ring in the year 2000. It swings daily at five minutes before noon. The bell was created by The Verdin Company and was cast in France. The bell is very very loud. You can stand directly underneath it and see the clapper strike the bell. If you have a group you can schedule a tour. During the 45 minute tour you will go up to the bell bridge to see the bell at eye level. They will strike the bell so you can hear it and touch it to feel the vibration. You will learn the history of the bell, who owns it, how it was made, the journey to get it here, and what symbols at the top of the bell mean.
It is really a neat and loud bell to see.
It is located at 425 York Street ( 4th and York) Newport, Kentucky
